Course Summary: Advanced IP Networks
This module provides a comprehensive exploration of modern IP networking concepts, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade network infrastructures.
Chapter 1: Introduction to Advanced IP Technologies
This chapter lays the foundation for understanding next-generation IP protocols and architectures. Students will explore IPv6 addressing, transition mechanisms, and advanced routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP, while examining how these technologies support scalable and resilient network designs.
Chapter 2: Advanced Switching Technologies
This chapter delves into Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching concepts, including VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, Spanning Tree Protocol enhancements, and EtherChannel. Students will learn how to build high-performance switched networks with redundancy and fast convergence.
Chapter 3: Data Center Technologies
This chapter covers the architecture and technologies that power modern data centers. Topics include spine-leaf topologies, virtualization, VXLAN overlays, software-defined networking (SDN), and network automation fundamentals for data center environments.
Chapter 4: Quality of Service (QoS) in IP Networks
This chapter examines traffic management mechanisms to ensure optimal application performance. Students will study classification, marking, queuing, congestion avoidance, and policing/shaping techniques to prioritize critical traffic and meet service level requirements.
Chapter 5: Network Optimization
This chapter focuses on strategies and tools to enhance network efficiency, reliability, and security. Topics include load balancing, traffic engineering, monitoring and analytics, troubleshooting methodologies, and best practices for continuous network improvement.
